Internet & Virus Hoaxes

Internet Hoaxes are an ever present problem that wastes time and bandwidth. Most of them take the form of E-Mails warning of a new virus (that doesn't really exist) and a plea for you to forward the message to everyone you know. All hoaxes don't involve viruses. Other hoaxes include helping a sick child, an e-mail tax and getting money from Bill Gates. AOL users should be careful of messages that purport to be from AOL and offer a prize or free service. They usually ask for your user name & password. Before you waste your time & clog up the E-Mail system, visit one or more of the following Sites: HoaxBusters About Symantec SETI League, F-Secure, McAfee , Snopes2 & Virus Myths. If you are on a Corporate Network and you receive an E-Mail Virus warning, don't forward it to your co-workers, forward it to your IT Manager.
