BASIC WAYS TO AVOID WEB STOCK SCAMS:
|
| Check out the Newsgroup
news.admin.net-abuse....they have alerts about spammers. |
| If the tip came via E-mail check out where it came from .
You can
reverse trace an e-mail address at Bigfoot. |
| Investigate the Ticker Symbol at
Hoover's,
Nasdaq
&
Edgar Database.(Companies with
over 500 investors & more than $10 million in assets are required to file here, so if
you don't find it, that means it may not exist or it is small enough to avoid regulation) |
| If the company is new & relatively small, chances are
it is an Over the Counter Bulletin Board Stock. Go to the
OTCBB
WebSite to investigate further. If the
symbol has 5 letters check their Symbol
& Identifier Page for the last letter. (D means its new...a Q means they're in
bankruptcy) |
| Use the following resources to educate yourself about
Investment Opportunities:
NASD's Investor Protection Page,
American Association of Individual Investors,
the e-mail
tracking service,
Spam Hunter & The Stock Detective. |
| YOU MAY WANT TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE STEPS FOR ANY STOCKS YOU
FIND RECOMMENDED IN THE SITES IN THE TABLE ON MICROSTOCKS! |
